About This Book

The Homeowner's Plumbing Book is a free book about the plumbing in an American house. You can read it from the front or open it at the problem you have. There is nothing to buy to read it and no account to make.

What it is not

The book is not a plumbing contractor, and it does no installs or repairs. It has not been reviewed by a licensed plumber. It is general information, and local rules vary, so what your town requires may differ from anything you read here. Where the book says a job belongs to a licensed person, it means that.

Who it is from

It is written by the book's editors, the same owners who run PlumbingSupplyAndMore, SoftPro Water Systems, Quality Water Treatment and Central Plumbing. Where a chapter links to one of these stores, that note is printed beside the link. No link in the book is paid placement.

Sources

The book draws on official and maker sources, listed at the end of each chapter and checked on the date shown. A number in the text with a small mark beside it can be traced to one of those notes.

Pictures

We use real photographs where we have them. Other pictures are AI-generated, and each is labeled in its caption and on the picture credits page.
